Water at the ready

waterbelt bottleholder conquers the World Expo in Saragossa

25.08.2008 |

Whether you are in the swimming pool, the gym or travelling - in summertime you always need to carry a bottle of water. But usually you quickly get tired of carrying the bottle around all of the time. The DNS design team, based in Stuttgart, has come up with the solution: with its waterbelt bottleholder that makes it easier to carry it around. At the moment, the product is providing refreshment to the visitors to the World Expo in Saragossa.

The bottleholder consists of an adjustable shoulder strap and a bottle clip. It can safely hold all standard PET recyclable and glass bottles with a volume of up to 1.5 litres, which can be detached again by applying light pressure. The bottle can be worn comfortably like a bag, either over the shoulder or diagonally across the chest. The product also has a clip that can be used to attach a key ring, mobile phone or MP3 player.

The bottleholder was developed and designed by the designers Uwe Neth and Ralph Schäflein, the founders of the design agency DNS in Stuttgart. Among other prizes, their waterbelt won silver in the Focus Energy Award in 2006 and was nominated for the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2008. It is currently on show at the German pavilion at the World Expo in Saragossa in Spain, which is focusing on the topic of "Water’. It is also available in different colours on the internet at a price of EUR 9.50 or EUR 14.50.

The DNS agency originally started up as a service provider for advertising gifts. The agency now has seven staff members, who organise and design the entire implementation of the projects themselves: from the first sketch to packaging and delivery. Their customers include Hugo Boss, Strenesse, Wella and Adidas. DNS also designs interiors, trade fair stands and furniture for companies such as Heineken, Hansa Metallwerke and Ritter Sport.
