Transport and tariff association
Stuttgart GmbH (VVS)

For the people in the Stuttgart region, the Stuttgart Transport and Tariff Association (VVS) has stood for integrated, sustainable and affordable mobility from a single source since 1978. The VVS was founded to coordinate and network the various transport companies with each other and to offer a common tariff for all public transport.

©plumbing The Stuttgart Transport and Tariff Association (VVS) coordinates local public transport in the state capital Stuttgart as well as in the neighboring districts of Böblingen, Esslingen, Ludwigsburg and Rems-Murr. It ensures uniform conditions of transport and tariff regulations as well as a coordinated timetable.
Together with its partners, the VVS makes a decisive contribution to securing and improving mobility in the associated districts.

The aim is to attract more passengers to public transport with high-quality services, attractive tariff offers and customer-friendly service.

Together with its partners, the VVS makes a decisive contribution to securing and improving mobility in the regional districts of Ludwigsburg, Böblingen, Esslingen, the Rems-Murr district and, since January 2021, also in the Göppingen district, which together have around 2,8 million inhabitants .

With its general conditions, the metropolitan area places the highest demands on the infrastructure and mobility for work, training and leisure transport. In order to meet these demands, the VVS, together with the transport companies and the authorities, has expanded the local transport system with buses, light rail, S-Bahn and branch lines into one of the best in Germany. The VVS is also a platform for networking mobility partners in the network area. Through additional offers such as car sharing, eBikes and electric scooters, classic public transport is continually being developed into a comprehensive mobility service for our shared customers. The polygoCard is a medium that is ideal for networking.

An important element for the local public transport offering in the Stuttgart region is the VVS community tariff, which was developed with the partners. Today the customer can choose from a coordinated and affordable range of tailor-made tariffs for every situation. Customers have rewarded the continually improved mobility and fare offerings: Passenger numbers have increased steadily until the Corona pandemic and have more than doubled since the VVS was founded. Around 1,3 million journeys were made on VVS trains and buses every day. This means that the VVS has developed into the sixth largest transport association in Germany.
