The Economic Development Region Stuttgart GmbH (WRS) is the central contact for companies, municipalities, start-ups, investors, specialists and journalists on the subject of business in the Stuttgart region - the city of Stuttgart and the five surrounding districts.

With its work, the WRS makes the qualities of the Stuttgart region known, promotes the economic development of the location with numerous projects and offers and coordinates all activities related to regional economic development.

The strategic tasks include: acquisition of companies, investor services, support for start-ups, promotion of regional industry and innovation networks and the transfer of knowledge between research institutions and the regional economy, measures to secure skilled workers and national and international location marketing.

The WRS connects companies, research institutions, universities, municipalities and other relevant actors. The focus of her work is on current topics and challenges, such as the transformation and adaptation processes in the automotive industry, the promotion of sustainable and environmentally friendly technologies, digitalization in industry, the training of skilled workers and the shortage of commercial space. The WRS was founded in 1995. As a subsidiary of the Stuttgart Region Association and with other shareholders, it is a publicly supported company.
