Stuttgart

Stuttgart, the state capital of Baden-Württemberg, offers all the possibilities of a modern city – and has nevertheless retained its Swabian charm.

The main economic focus is on export-oriented sectors such as the automotive industry, electrical industry and mechanical engineering. However, all other sectors are also represented, especially a large number of suppliers and the publishing houses and media companies that have traditionally been based here. The good cooperation with science always gives the economy important new impulses. Universities, academies and technical colleges, Fraunhofer and Max Planck Institutes and the Steinbeis Foundation for Technology Transfer represent the city's great research and innovation potential.

Stuttgart's flourishing trade fair and congress industry is now pushing the Liederhalle cultural and congress centre and the exhibition halls on the Killesberg to the limits of their capacity. As a forward-looking project, the city is therefore planning a new exhibition centre near the airport.

Despite all the activity, Stuttgart is a city with a particularly high quality of life and enjoys a rich cultural and leisure offering. More than half of the city area is covered by forests, meadows, orchards and vineyards that extend into the city center. Stuttgart is crossed by an eight-kilometer-long adventure and recreational landscape, the green U. Here you can find relaxation just as much as in the mineral baths, because Stuttgart has the largest mineral water deposits in Western Europe. Also embedded in the parks is the Wilhelma, the city's zoological and botanical garden.

Those interested in culture have countless options in Stuttgart: the State Theater with opera, ballet and drama performances, the Musical Hall, the variety theater, the Old and New State Gallery, the Württemberg State Museum, museums for natural history and ethnology, and many other smaller stages, collections and museums are open to visitors.

The Schleyer Hall, the Gottlieb Daimler Stadium and the Cannstatter Wasen are available for major entertainment, sporting or musical events.

Other attractions include the Cannstatter Volksfest, the Christmas market, the wine village and the Stuttgart Summer Festival. Year after year, Stuttgart's city festivals attract thousands of visitors.

A unique and significant urban development, infrastructure, investment and employment promotion program – Stuttgart 21 – is planned for the next few years, which will make decisive progress for Stuttgart.
