Mundelsheim is a traditional wine-growing community located in the Ludwigsburg district at an altitude of 188 to 334 m. Nestled between steep vineyard terraces, on a loop of the Neckar, it is known as a particularly attractive excursion destination. The panoramic path on the Käsberg (Käsbergkanzel) offers a wonderful view over the romantic Neckar valley. Connoisseurs appreciate Mundelsheim wines.
Mundelsheim has a good traffic situation: the Freiberg am Neckar S-Bahn station and the Ludwigsburg – Besigheim bus line; direct connection to the Stuttgart – Heilbronn motorway and a pier for the Neckar passenger shipping.
In summer, the beautiful outdoor mineral pool with a large lawn offers relaxation and recreation. Coziness and a good atmosphere arise in one of the many restaurants.
Worth seeing in Mundelsheim is the Kilianskirche with its very beautiful, valuable fresco wall paintings from 1450. The St. Nicholas Church with its early Gothic choir and the beautiful Baroque organ also has historical value. On the edge of the industrial area on the Ottmarsheimer Höhe, a Roman cellar was uncovered and a Mithras temple was restored. These facilities can be visited at any time.
