Kornwestheim with its 30.000 inhabitants is an attractive city with a high quality of life. Lively and busy, it spares its residents from stress and hectic pace and offers many opportunities for recreation and relaxation.
In 1931 Kornwestheim became a city and in 1956 it became a large district town.
Directly adjacent to the state capital Stuttgart, Kornwestheim is close to the A81, has connections to the B27, B27a and B10 and has an S-Bahn station and one of the most modern container handling terminals in Germany. The central location, the excellent infrastructure and the favorable tax and contribution rates create good conditions for a strong business location.
Life is good in the city with modern residential areas, above-average facilities with kindergartens and daycare centers, a variety of shopping opportunities, well-kept green spaces and a diverse range of cultural and sports offerings. There is a lot to discover and numerous events and activities ensure that you never get bored.
Archaeological finds prove that today's Kornwestheimer Markung was settled in prehistoric times. The prosperous farming village of Kornwestheim emerged from an Alemannic settlement due to its productive arable land. With the founding of the Salamander shoe factory by Jakob Sigle in 1891 and the Stotz iron foundry and machine factory built around the turn of the century, Kornwestheim began to transform into an important industrial town with a rapidly growing population. The completion of the state freight station in 1918 made Kornwestheim a railway hub in southern Germany and created ideal conditions for the city's future-oriented economic development.
