Gammelshausen is beautifully situated at the foot of the Swabian Alb. Together with Boll, Aichelberg, Dürnau, Hattenhofen and Zell unter Aichelberg, the place forms the Bad Boll area municipal administration association.
In 1975, Gammelshausen was very successful in the state and national competitions, Our Village Should Become More Beautiful, and was awarded a gold medal each. The beautification measures as part of the competition were accompanied by the expansion and improvement of the infrastructure. A community center was built and a sports and community center was built together with the Dürnau community. In 1984 a bakery was added and in the same year the town hall was rebuilt and renovated.
Gammelshausen and its residents feel very connected to nature. It is not for nothing that the community is called the flower village. Fruit growing is also practiced here. There is a fruit educational trail running through the district, which provides those interested with a lot of information on this topic.
