With an area of 482 hectares, Eschenbach is one of the smallest communities in the Göppingen district, but due to its idyllic location in the Voralb area, the place has developed from a farming community to one of the most popular residential communities in the district with now around 2.200 residents.
In addition to a good infrastructure, active clubs and organizations that enliven events in the community, and the annual organization of the cabbage festival, which highlights the formerly important herb cultivation, Eschenbach also has a famous son: the pastor and geologist Dr. Theodor Engel, who contributed a lot to research into the Swabian Alb through his work.
Since 1970, the municipality, together with the neighboring municipality of Heiningen, has formed the Voralb municipal administration association. In addition, it has a nationwide facility in its area that is praised as exemplary: the Göppingen/Voralb industrial park, an inter-municipal, approximately 29 hectare industrial area owned by the association partners Göppingen, Heiningen and Eschenbach, which today has almost 1.000 jobs.
