Eislingen is located on the northern edge of the Swabian Alb, in an environment equally suitable for work and leisure.
With the connection to the railway line through the Filstal in 1846, Eislingen developed into an industrial and workers' residential community. Today the city has an interesting and diverse industrial structure and in the commercial sector it can also boast numerous efficient craft businesses in all the usual sectors. Retail stores in the city center and large supermarkets in the outskirts offer the best shopping opportunities.
Eislingen was first mentioned in documents in 861. The country house style castle from 1769, numerous churches and two public mineral fountains still characterize the cityscape today as evidence of historical development.
The city's surroundings and its scenic location offer countless opportunities for local recreation. Circular hiking trails, a forest educational and sports trail and playgrounds are available. Eislingen is an ideal starting point for hikes to the Swabian Alb and to the Hohenstaufen and Rechberg castles
