Börtlingen, popularly known as the home of the Gugelhupfer, is beautifully situated on a narrow ridge in the eastern Schurwald. The panorama presented from the plateau extends from the Teck to the Geislinger Albvorland.
The community with its 1.800 residents is particularly characterized by its lively community life.
In the center of the town, old meets new. Art connoisseurs particularly appreciate the chapel in the surrounding wall of the churchyard with its late Gothic Mount of Olives (end of the 15th century).
Also worth seeing is the newly created village square behind the town hall, a result of Börtlingen's efforts to preserve a village character. As part of the state competition Our Village Should Become More Beautiful, Börtlingen recently achieved a bronze medal, and not without good reason.
Walkers and hikers who set off from the Zell district into the Marbachtal will find untouched nature.
The consecration of a church in Bertnang, which was the original name of the community in 1202, is considered the first mention of Börtlingen.
