The town of Albershausen is located a few kilometers south of the Filstal near Ebersbach and Uhingen, on the slopes of the Butzbachtal. Albershausen and Uhingen together form the agreed Uhingen administrative community.
Since the Second World War, the town around the old village center has grown steadily. More recently, commercial areas have emerged at the town exits towards Schlierbach and Uhingen. The community has a modern infrastructure. In addition to the primary and secondary schools, two municipal kindergartens prepare our little ones for their life's journey. More than 2 local clubs enliven life in Albershausen and offer a wide range of leisure activities.
Albershausen has a long local history. The parish of Alberhusen was mentioned for the first time in the liber decimationis as early as 1275. To the east of Albershausen there is an old castle site that may have been the seat of Reinhard von Albershausen, who was mentioned in the Adelberger Seelbuch. Johann Georg Schillinger was born in Albershausen in 1769. The name alone tells us little, but his maternal great-grandson was none other than Albert Schweitzer, the well-known tropical doctor. The local school, built in 1965, still bears his name today.
