INTRODUCING THE STUTTGART REGION

Germany’s Number One
Founded in 1994, the Verband Region Stuttgart (association of local authorities within the Stuttgart Region) works hand in hand with other institutions to co-ordinate collaboration between local towns and rural districts, and ensure the area’s international competitiveness. The region is the first in Germany to have its own directly elected parliamentary assembly, making for fast, effective decision-making on local issues.

Big City Style and Rural Charm
The Stuttgart Region is one of Europe’s foremost metropolitan areas. Extending 90 km from Northwest to Southeast, and 80 km from Southwest to Northeast, it comprises five counties and the City of Stuttgart, encompassing 179 towns and rural districts. Home to some 2.7 million people from 170 countries, the Stuttgart Region is a great place to live und work .

It is also an area of great natural beauty. The rolling hills of the Schwäbische Alb and the legendary Black Forest are within easy travelling distance, and the local vineyards, castles, and other historic monuments offer no end of opportunities for rest and recreation. What’s more, the Stuttgart Region is one of the world’s leading centres of business and technology – and boasts an excellent infrastructure.
